A couple of shots of some illustrated surface design for fabric I have been working on. I has been great to work with repeat patterns again and on something so colourful! Printed on high quality cotton these designs are now being made up into a fabric sample book full of illustrated fabric design. Hmm now cupcake curtains anyone?!

This is the final logo design for Kent Tutors -It was a great one to work on mixing traditional style with contemporary elements -I loved drawing the lion with his fiery tail in particular! Just as a slight variation I have also included one of the original alternative ideas I was working on with crowns to suggest the classical influence (in the end I thought it was too regal looking, but I liked the overall image) …but Carpe Diem and get those noses to the grindstone!

This year my hand screen printed Christmas card features a bedecked reindeer, sporting Christmas party hat and bauble and a slightly nonchalant manner. -After all, you don’t need to say much when you have Christmas Time written in gold scripted neon between your antlers. -Happy Christmas to one and all! I hope you all enjoy the break and all the best for a wonderful 2012!

…Our stand on the day!

These are two illustrations forming part of a custom wedding illustration commission. The insects were chosen as they are the nicknames of the couple in question! These natural history illustrations are then to be screen printed on fabric and made into bespoke favour bags.

Grayson Perry’s stunning tapestry, -a really beautiful piece of work with his characteristic illustrative style of blended folk art, nostalgia and personal histories woven into an epic wall sized fairy tale.

I loved this bold installation piece by Doug Aitken, a multifaceted mirrored ‘Now’ which entices the viewer into its depths, staring into its reflected, distorted view of reality.

The beautifully illustrated works of Charles Avery, I love the economy of line and how he creates emotions in his drawings with his characters hunched against the outside with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Although the figures are often exaggerated and elegant in line, they can sum up the entire range of human nature in a couple of swift brush and pen strokes.

This Tara Donovan sculpture really caught my eye as it is really beautiful and reminds me of  something other-worldly or perhaps evolved in the unexplored depths under the sea. It feels alive and almost half a creature. Beautiful, ethereal  and catching the light as well as the eye!
