Custom Illustrated Wedding Invite
May 17, 2010
Black ‘n White baby! I was commissioned to design some custom illustrated wedding invitations for a transatlantic couple! (based in London and Cambridge, Massachusetts) I thought it would be a great to design in storybook style illustration whilst mixing the two skylines and adding in a few magical elements that were important to the couple in question. The end result is a truly unique and personalized wedding invitation that the couple really love and also want enlarged and screen printed version to keep for their wall!

Hi, this is a lovely invitation. But I have to ask, how is the People’s Republic of Cambridge represented? I’m assuming the central building is Harvard, maybe? Other than that, all I see is London. Again, it is very whimsical and terribly well done, and I am not criticizing the quality at all. But as a Cantabrigian, I am curious.
Hi Tuscadero,
I’m glad you like the design, Yes you are right the central building is Harvard (one member of the couple is a professor there) -the buildings bottom right are actually buildings I drew from around some of the old part of Boston when I was visiting last summer and have sat in my sketchbook since -so just down the road from Cambridge I guess! -the others are of course London (where the couple met so the London skyline was supposed to feature heavily)
